February 4 and 5 – Another day of leisure and heading home.

We headed out first thing this morning to get our COVID tests that are required in order to get on a plane tomorrow.  We were in and out very quickly.

The plan was to catch a ferry to Suomenlinna Island see the village there and visit the sea fortress.  However, it is snowy and windy today and Mary was having leg cramps so we went back to the hotel for the day.  We only ventured out for lunch…the hotel restaurant wasn’t open for lunch.

On Saturday (5th) we were picked up at 11:30 for our transfer to the airport.  Our driver was Ukrainian and had lived in Finland for 7 years. We had a lot of time at the airport (we went really early in case there were issues with our COVID testing).  Fortunately, we are flying business class so we had access to the very nice business class lounge and it’s lovely food.  So, we had lunch there.

The 10-hour flight was long but reasonably comfortable.  Neither of us slept on the plane.  We were back at our condo at about 12:00am and were in bed an hour later.  We are both rather jet lagged.
